Now, you may be thinking to yourself, taking insect photographs is actually pretty straightforward. After all, if you were to get a butterfly net, go out in the field somewhere, look for some butterflies, put them in jars, add the right chemical gas in there, you have yourself very nice insect models. Done deal, right? Well, not quite.
You have to understand that the insect world is huge. These six-legged creatures have many members in their family. Not every member is as easy to handle as beetles and butterflies.
If you’ve taken pictures of butterflies, you were probably taken by how beautiful they are. And believe me, butterflies are some of the best creatures on the planet in terms of photography. They are really Mother Nature’s perfect all-natural insect models.
In fact, they’re so easy to shoot that it really would be quite incompetent for you to fail to even shoot one passable shot. In fact, if you invest in even the smallest amount of training and attention to detail into your photography hobby, you can walk away with semi-professional or even fully professional shots of butterflies. That’s how easy they are to shoot. Unfortunately, this is not the case when it comes to bed bugs.
Now, you’re probably thinking to yourself, “why on earth would I be taking pictures of bed bugs?” If you’re like most Americans, the idea of bed bugs probably makes you want to throw up. It probably turns your stomach, and I can’t say I blame you.
If you’ve ever been the victim of bed bugs, it’s not a pleasant experience. It’s not like a trip to Las Vegas. Instead, it can feel like a trip to hell because when you wake up in the middle of the night sweating and you see these fat blood-gorged insects happily and slowly crawling through your stomach, you don’t feel like a happy camper. You don’t feel like a million bucks. In fact, you feel like crap.
And don’t even get me started on the itch. It’s something to write home about. And I’m not talking about writing home with a lot of hope and happiness in your words. I’m talking about writing home in a very depressed way.
And this is no surprise that a lot of people don’t want to take pictures of bed bugs. But if you find yourself in a situation where you have to take pictures of bed bugs, maybe it’s for some sort of science assignment, you are going to find yourself in a tough spot.
First of all, you need to find a place that still has bed bugs. Also, you need to make sure that the shots are clear. In most cases, you probably don’t need to produce the bed bug photo yourself. Maybe you’re giving some sort of school assignment presentation, maybe you are participating in some sort of group effort and you just need to come up with bed bug photos.
If any of this is the case, go to merkem.ca. This website has all sorts of bed bug photos. They’ve taken photographs of bed bugs in a wide range of contexts. We’re talking about different lighting settings, we’re talking about different angles.
Regardless of your perspective and regardless of the specific nature or orientation of your assignment, you need to get those photos because I have yet to find another place on the internet that has such professional quality photos of bed bugs.
It’s easy to see why this is the case because bed bugs are not exactly very popular in the insect world. Most people would rather take pictures of beetles, lady bugs and butterflies. If there was some sort of totem pole or some sort of ranking system, bed bugs would probably be near the bottom, next to cockroaches.
So do yourself a big favor, if you need photos that you don’t necessarily have to shoot yourself, head on over to merkem.ca and get your bed bug game on.
